Summer Happenings

Summer 2015 has been a very busy one for us at Gardiner Thomsen! Some of our employees headed south to Florida for the AICPA Symposium and AAM Conference at Disney World, where they not only attended classes all day but also got to spend some time in the parks! Also, as a proud supporter and member of the Agribusiness Association of Iowa (AAI), we sponsored holes at each of the golf outings held throughout the state this summer (two in July, one in August and one more to come). We had a canopy set up with giveaways at Dike, Okoboji and Polk City and we want to thank everyone for stopping by and saying hi. We will be in attendance at the Pella outing on September 10th and are looking forward to that! We also attended and sponsored the 2015 NSAC Tax, Finance & Accounting Conference for Cooperatives this year in Denver, Colorado, from August 2–5th. If you were there, we hope you were able to have stopped by our booth! We had another successful staff training this summer that helped kick off the start of busy season. This is a great time for our company, as all of the different offices come together for one week to further their education and team-build. This year, we started the week with a fun golf outing here in Des Moines. The players all had a good time and the weather was perfect! With our training and golf day behind us, we ended the week on a high note with our annual Staff Night Out. This year, we headed out to Prairie Meadows Race Track and Casino for some horse races and dinner on the pavilion. Overall, GT employees had a very busy yet fun summer. Many employees were busy studying for their CPA exams; Sara Welp got engaged to fiancé, Dan; Clark Moorehead tied the knot to wife, Annie; Patrick Mansheim is preparing for the arrival of his baby with wife, Mary; Matt Gardiner raced in his first Half Iron Man and MUCH more! In early July, Dennis Gardiner and his family took a trip to Breckenridge, Colorado, to go white water rafting. This was always a “bucket list” item for Dan Gardiner that he was never able to fulfill. The family had a great time on the water and Dennis was the only one to go flying off the boat! The guides said he joined the “swim team” that day and let him sign a kayak of fellow swimmers that they keep on their store front! Vacation time has passed, the busy season is upon us, and Christmas trees are already out for purchase. We are excited for the fall and what is to come for the rest of 2015… Stay tuned for our upcoming events!
