Greg Cargin

CPA, Partner

Bio

Greg Cargin started working with Gardiner + Company in 1998 in our Sioux Falls office. Shortly thereafter, he transferred to our Des Moines office where he spent roughly one year as a Staff Accountant. After two years back in the Sioux Falls office, he left the firm in 2001 to work for one of our clients as a controller. Greg returned to Gardiner in 2005 and eventually took over as manager of the Sioux Falls office, where he resides today. In 2012, he became a partner with the firm. He received his B.A. in Accounting from the University of Northern Iowa in May 1998 and passed his CPA exam that same month. Greg is a well-rounded individual who can respond to almost any question posed by clients with insightful, well-thought answers. He enjoys public accounting because of its day-to-day interaction with different clients or personnel. Greg thrives on working with people, enhancing his knowledge and providing value to his clients any way that he can.

Hobbies

When Greg is not working with clients, he and his wife, Renae, volunteer with certain Make-A-Wish activities. Greg tries to stay busy in whatever way he can. He will play the occasional round of golf, hang with his boys, Austin and Devin, or do yard work.

Expertise

Greg’s specialty is audit and taxation of agricultural cooperatives, and he also provides services for new not-for-profit entities in South Dakota. He is a member of AICPA, ISCPA, SDCPA and NSAC and is licensed in Iowa and South Dakota.

I’m proud that my clients say I’m easy to work with. Creating a relationship that puts everybody at ease is great for staying productive.
